Casualties were feared as a blast rocked the Dasht-i-Barchi area in western Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan, on Thursday, eyewitnesses said.
The blast took place in a Barchi center market at around 02:30 p.m. local time, according to the eyewitnesses who declined to give their names, Xinhua reported.
Meanwhile, an Afghan media outlet confirmed the injury of 12 people following the blast. Another source reported that the explosion left 6 people killed.
The reports added that a powerful explosion occurred on Thursday in Mazar-e-Sharif as well.
Taliban officials have yet to make any comment.
On Thursday morning, Afghan news sources reported that an explosion occurred near a mosque located in Kabul on Thursday morning.
