Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has characterized the negotiations between Iran and Turkmenistan regarding energy, transit, and water resources as "fruitful".

During a meeting with his Turkmen counterpart, Raşit Meredow, on Thursday evening in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Amirabdollahian emphasized the significance of these discussions.

After private consultations between the foreign ministers of both countries, public talks commenced in the presence of accompanying delegations.

Referring to his high-level meetings and talks today in Ashgabat with the senior Turkmen officials, Amirabdollahian said that the two sides exchanged views on the dimensions of bilateral relations, and regional plus international developments.

The need for enhanced cooperation between Tehran and Ashgabat in preserving existing water resources, including the Iran-Turkmenistan Friendship Dam, was underscored, he said.

Furthermore, both parties proposed various initiatives for cross-border collaboration, consular affairs, trade, and technology cooperation, he added.
