Larijani was holding the same post previously from 15 August 2005 to 20 October 2007.
He also was the Iranian parliament's speaker from 2008 to 2020.
President Masoud Pezeshkian has appointed Ali Larijani as the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council.
