Afghan President Hamid Karzai arrived in Tehran this morning and was officially welcomed by his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani a few hours ago.

The Afghan president, heading a high-ranking delegation, arrived in Tehran Sunday morning and was warmly welcomed by Vice-President Mohammad Shariatmadari upon arrival at Mehrabad airport.

During his one-day stay, the Afghan president is to hold talks with President Rouhani and a number of senior Iranian officials on the ways to expand the bilateral ties between Tehran and Kabul, and will discuss the latest developments in the region.
