Electoral District Executive and Supervisory Committees which oversee elections have officially validated the results of May 19 city council election in capital, Tehran, senior official declared.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Alireza Rahimi, the director of the supreme council for overseeing Tehran province's council election said on Sunday that 190 election complaints have been received, but all of them were rejected after investigation.

Most of the election complaints were from the Khedmat (Service) list.

President-elect Hassan Rouhani's allies who participated in the municipal election as member of the Omid (Hope) list won the city and village council election in the capital, Tehran, and in major cities.

Voters in Tehran overwhelmingly cast their ballots for candidates of the Omid list.

The presidential election was held simultaneously with local election and President Rouhani won a landslide victory obtaining 57% of ballots (over 23.4 million).

Another list of candidates for the municipal election was the Khedmat (Service) list which belonged to the principlist groups critical of Rouhani.

Rouhani's rivals, supporters of the current mayor of the Iranian capital Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, failed to win the municipal election in Tehran and in most cities.
