The Russian flotilla embarked on ferrying the Caspian Sea toward Iran to bolster cooperation and convey message of peace and friendship to the Caspian Sea littoral states.
During their four-day stay in Anzali Port, the Russian naval officers would meet several local Iranian officials and tour historical sites in this northern province.
The visit of Russian warships is a regular practice aimed at conveying message of peace.
The Caspian Sea is bordered to the south by Iran, to the north by Russia, to the West by Russia and Azerbaijan Republic and to the east by Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
