The secretary of Iran's Supreme Council of Free Zones and the first deputy Speaker of Iranian Majlis (parliament) have discussed issues pertaining to the developing free economic zones in the country and customs issues.

Morteza Bank and parliament member Masoud Pezeshkian during a meeting on Monday discussed further development of Iran's free zones, promotion of sustainable employments, attracting foreign investments and bolstering trade exchanges.

Bank said in order to stop smuggling of goods, there is a plan to connect all the free zones under the integrated customs system in the country.

According to him, by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (ending on March 20, 2018), all the free zones in Iran will have been brought under the integrated customs system.

Pezeshkian, for his part, said that the Government bill on free zones, if ratified in the parliament, could well serve as a positive step.

Members of the parliament are considering a bill offered by the Government on development of the free zones in Iran.
