The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed Iran compliance with the (JCPOA) nine times, Abbas Araqchi said, speaking to the London-based Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs.
He also tried to offer a clear analysis of probable misinterpretation of the JCPOA.
Many people in Iran or in the countries of the G5+1 assume that the JCPOA is an economic pact, he said.
But in fact the JCPOA is a type of treaty within the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
For more than two decades we were facing a nuclear crisis, but the JCPOA could help resolve the complicated issue through negotiations, he said.
In the absence of the JCPOA, non proliferation of nuclear weapons will encounter a crisis and this is a security choice and not an economic one, he added.
The JCOPA merely focus on Iran's peaceful nuclear program and it has nothing to do with other issues, he said.
To connect the issue of the JCOPA to other issues such as the country's missile program, or current developments in Syria and the likes will make it more complicated than help resolve the issue, Araqchi said.
There are no sunset clauses in the JCPOA. In another words, it is not a temporary agreement, he said.
On Regional developments, Iran believes that the Persian Gulf region requires a new security architecture to safeguard the entire region in which all small countries feel safe and secure, he said.
After implementation of the JCPOA, Iran proposed setting up dialogue to help resolve regional disputes, but no one heeded and the offer still remains on the table, Araqchi said.
We are living in a perilous era which can be regarded as a serious threat for the security of our next generations, he said.
