Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Tuesday that Iran welcomes expansion of economic cooperation with Brazil in joint investment opportunities and running new technological projects inside Iran.

Zarif made the remarks in Iran-Brazil joint economic cooperation meeting in Brazil on Tuesday.

The role of Iranian private and state-run organizations in various sectors such as banking, investment, auto making, pharmaceutical drugs, sanitation, medical treatment, electricity and water energy, agriculture and foodstuff industries, higher education, transportation, urban development, oil and petrochemical are very prominent, he said.

High number of participants in the seminar indicates both sides political will for broadening such economic and commercial cooperation, he said.

Brazil can also be regarded as one of the important economic partners for the Islamic Republic of Iran, he said.

Both sides' officials are determined to create suitable opportunity for more active role of the private sectors, Zarif said.

He expressed hope to witness signing of very good economic contracts between Iran and Brazil.
