“Iran and Pakistan lack banking channels, which is directly affecting interests of businessmen of both countries. Iran is looking forward for an FTA with Pakistan,” the diplomat added while speaking in a meeting with office bearers of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati).
He said bilateral trade is also facing tariff barriers and hoped that all hurdles will be removed soon.
The business exhibition held in Pakistan by Iran was a successful event, the diplomat said, and expressed the hope for the same level of enthusiasm from Pakistani businessmen for such events in Iran.
The Iranian Consulate is providing all possible facilitation in visa processing for the business community and expects the same gesture from the Pakistani embassy in Iran, he added.
KATI President Tariq Malik said there is a great potential for improving the bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Both governments should take more practical steps, including exchange of trade delegations and business information.
