Iranian President Hassan Rouhani underlined Iran’s determination to promote relations with neighbors, specially with Turkmenistan.

Rouhani made the remarks Saturday in a meeting with visiting Turkmenistan Foreign Minister Rasit Meredow.

He referred to his recent trip to Turkmenistan and appreciated Turkmen people and government.

He also pointed to rapid implementation of agreements between Tehran and Ashgabat as being in line with both countries’ mutual interests.

There is no obstacle in developing relations between two countries, he said, adding that promoting ties in all fields is necessary.

President Rouhani underscored implementation of agreements in energy swap, electricity transmission, bolstering transit cooperation, activating railways and roads, presenting facilities and developing trade cooperation.

Iranian firms are ready to present technical-engineering services to Turkmenistan and implementing plans related to constructing highways and roads, he said.

Due to the cultural and religious commonalities between the two countries, broadening scientific, academic cooperation in advanced technologies field is essential, he added.

Meanwhile, Meredow submitted Turkmenistan President letter to President Rouhani.

He underlines the fact that Turkmenistan government is determined to reinforce ties with Iran.

Meredow also called for signing long-term contracts with Tehran in all fields.

Both countries enjoy cooperation capacities in all fields namely energy and transit.
