Lavrov said based on a cautious optimism, there is possibility for the Iran deal, known also as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), to be maintained.
He went on to denounce US President Donald Trump for unilaterally pulling out Washington from the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and P5+1 group of nations.
Trump, by abandoning the JCPOA, made Moscow disappointed, the Russian foreign Minister said.
What he [Trump] did was a blatant violation of the international nuclear agreement and Resolution 2231 of the 2015 UN Security Council based on which the JCPOA was ratified, Lavrov said.
Washington once again acted against the will of the majority of nations in the world and just tried to safeguard its own interests at the expense of ignoring international laws, he stressed.
Trump's decision to withdraw from the Iran Deal was a serious blow on the global and regional security and stability, he added.
