Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi strongly condemned terrorist attack in Afghanistan on Saturday, saying that terrorists and ill-wishers have targeted the country’s stability and security.

The attack on Saturday targeted a gathering of Afghan forces in Nangarhar which left dozens killed and wounded.

Qasemi also expressed solidarity with the Afghan people and government as well as families of the victims.

“Ill-wishers of the Afghan nation who consider stability and calm as well as recent efforts such as ceasefire between the government and Taliban group as contravening their interests did not stand unity and ceasefire in the country; as they showed by another crime that their survival and endurance lie in committing crimes and sowing discord,” said the spkesman.

It won't take long that the Afghan people and government will overcome terrorism and will reap benefits of their patience and resistance against the terrorists, he said.

Today's attack in Afghanistan happened in Rodat district, some 25km from Jalalabad, killing 20 and injuring 16.

Civilians, security forces and Taliban members were among the casualties as people celebrated the second day of Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
