Iran and Belarus inked an industrial cooperation memorandum of understanding during the second meeting of their joint industrial working group in Minsk early Friday.

The MoU was signed by Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohsen Salehinia on behalf of Iran and Belarusian Deputy Minister of Industry Gennadi Sviderski in the presence of Iranian Ambassador to the country Mostafa Oveisi.

During the meeting both sides emphasized the need to expand bilateral ties and industrial cooperation between the two countries.

Belarus with an area of 207,600 square kilometers and a population of about 10 million is located in Eastern Europe bordering Russia, Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania. It gained its independence following the disintegration of ex-Soviet Union.
