After visiting an exhibition of Iran’s latest achievements in space industry on Tuesday, President Rouhani said his administration attaches “special significance” to the space research programs and the applied projects on satellites and spacecraft.
Iran is now among the few countries that have embarked on activities in the entire fields of space industry, he noted.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran will achieve new successes in the aerospace field within the next two years,” the president added.
Rouhani also noted that the pace of progress in Iran’s space technology will accelerate following the changes in the administration.
Earlier this month, Iran successfully sent the homegrown Fajr (Dawn) satellite into orbit with a domestically-built satellite carrier, dubbed Safir-e Fajr.
Iran has in recent years made great headways in manufacturing satellites thanks to the efforts made by its local scientists.
In January 2013, Iran sent a monkey into space aboard an indigenous bio-capsule code-named Pishgam (Pioneer).
And later in December 2013, the country’s scientists could successfully send a monkey, called ‘Fargam’ or Auspicious, into space aboard Pajoheshan (Research) indigenous rocket and return the live simian back to earth safely.
