Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held talks on Monday with his South African counterpart Maite Nkoana-Mashabane and the two explored ways of enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations.

During their talks, Zarif and Nkoana-Mashabane emphasized development of political and economic relations.

Zarif arrived in Pretoria on Sunday afternoon to attend the 13th meeting of joint commission as well as to participate in the Iran-South Africa Business Forum.

The Iranian top diplomat is also expected to meet with other high-ranking South African officials.

Official figures show that Iran is capable of increasing its exports to the African country. According to figures presented by Iran Trade Promotion Organization, in the first months of 2016, Iran's exports to South Africa, with a 70 percent increase, stood at 14,300,000 dollars.
