“Brazil recognizes the right of all countries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, to use peaceful nuclear energy in line with the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT),” IRNA quoted the ambassador.
“Any remaining ambiguity about Iran's nuclear energy program should be resolved through negotiations,” he added.
Salgado expressed hope that the next round of talks between Iran and the six major world powers (P5+1) would result in positive outcomes and lead to a final solution to the nuclear issue.
Iran and the P5+1 - China, Russia, Britain, France, the US and Germany -- wrapped up the first round of fresh negotiations in the Turkish city of Istanbul on April 14. Both sides hailed the talks as constructive.
They agreed to hold the next round of the multifaceted talks in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on May 23.
The ambassador stated that despite sanctions against Iran, there are still great opportunities for the expansion of economic and trade ties between Tehran and Brasilia.
