Chinese Ambassador to the UN Li Baodong has stressed the need for the continuation of talks between Iran and the six major world powers to find a mutual diplomatic solution to Tehran’s nuclear issue.

Li, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council for June, described the diplomatic approach as the only possible solution to settle any remaining differences between Iran and the P5+1.

The continuation of talks between the P5+1 group and Tehran will lead to an agreed final solution, he said on Saturday.

On Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei also insisted on continued dialogue to resolve the Iranian nuclear issue.

He called on all parties involved in the negotiations to maintain the positive momentum during the negotiation to resolve differences.

"China will work with other parties to continue to play its due role in the pursuit of a peaceful and political solution for the Iranian nuclear issue," he added.

Iran and the P5+1 group - Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States plus Germany - wrapped up two days of talks in Moscow on Tuesday.

At the heart of the Moscow negotiations was Iran’s nuclear energy program, with Tehran reiterating its inalienable right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes.

The two sides have agreed to continue the talks on a technical level follow-on in Istanbul, Turkey, on July 3.
