Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi announced on Sunday that all phases of the South Pars gas field will be finished by the end of the year 1393 (March 2015).

Qasemi who was talking in an open parliamentary session said that “great investment” is needed to complete the South Pars projects as well as close cooperation by Majlis members.

“Completing the work will require great investment, which will entail serious help by honorable Majlis representatives because with the completion of the South Pars phases our production will equal Qatar’s,” he told lawmakers.

He added that exploration and development of joint oil fields is another priority of the Oil Ministry “because we are lagging behind partners in this sector.”

According to the plan presented to the Supreme Leader at the Oil Research Center at the end of last calendar year, the ministry will determine the fate of all joint fields by the end of this year, which ends on March 20.

The minister said Iran shares joint oil fields with the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.
