The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is set to mount an exhibition of photos by renowned Iranian artist Reza Vahmi in the French capital city of Paris.

Celebrating UN International Day of Cooperatives on July 7th, The Carpet Girls will showcase a collection of nine photographs.

According to organizers of the event, the exhibition is aimed at introducing Iranian Turkmen rugs to the world.

Sponsored by UNESCO, Charles De Gaulle University of Arts in Lille and Iran-based Sarv Art Group, The Carpet Girls will kick off on July 3 and run until July 6, 2012.

UNESCO’s documentary photographer Vahmi is a photo editor at the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) in Seoul, South Korea.

Vahmi began his professional photography career in fall 2007 and then, after two years of intense learning, became a successful self-trained photographer.

In the spring of 2010, the Iranian photographer won the gold medal at the International Photography Art fair during the Austrian Great Prize Festival (FIAP).
