Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is scheduled to pay a visit to New York to attend the upcoming session of the UN General Assembly, an Iranian official confirmed.

Director-General of the Iranian Presidential Office for International Affairs Mohammad Reza Forqani announced on Friday that Ahmadinejad will attend the 67th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York late in September.

He added that Ahmadinejad will deliver a speech at the session.

The Iranian president would also hold talks with senior officials from the participating countries on the sidelines of the session.

It will be President Ahmadinejad's eighth trip to New York for a UN General Assembly session since 2005.
