Iran’s Majlis has invited the ambassadors of Syria, Turkey and Qatar to Tehran to the legislative assembly’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee over the abduction of Iranian pilgrims in Syria.

Hossein Naqavi Hosseini, a spokesman for the Majlis committee, made the announcement on Monday.

In early August, 48 Iranian pilgrims were abducted by the insurgents in Syria as they were traveling on a bus from the Damascus International Airport to the shrine of Hazrat Zainab (AS) on the outskirts of the Syrian capital.

On Friday, the foreign-backed members of the terrorist Free Syrian Army threatened to kill all of the Iranian abductees if Damascus did not comply with their demands.

The rebels said they would kill the hostages if the Syrian government did not release captured anti-government insurgents and did not stop operations against armed groups in the country within 48 hours.
