An Iranian vice president says the killing of civilians in the Gaza Strip proves Tel Aviv’s failure to confront anti-Israeli resistance in the region.

“The killing of defenseless women and children of Gaza by the fake Zionist regime [of Israel] is a sign of their failure against the resistance of the regional nations, including Palestine and Syria,” Ali Saeedlou Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s deputy for international affairs said in a meeting with a Syrian government delegation in Tehran on Tuesday.

The collapsing Israeli regime is seeking to save itself through such murderous acts, Saeedlou explained, calling on Muslim nations to unite against Israel’s “savage crimes” in the Gaza Strip.

“The Zionist wolves are mounting pressure on a resistant nation, and if a united Islamic Ummah had been established, the Zionist regime would have never allowed itself to massacre our friends,” he regretted.

The Iranian official also condemned arms flow to foreign-backed insurgents fighting the Syrian government, noting that only the Syrian people should decide the future of their country.

At least 128 Palestinians have been killed and more than 1,000 injured in seven days of intensified Israeli attacks.

On Monday, the Israeli military said that it had conducted more than 1,350 aerial and sea attacks against Gaza since the beginning of the escalated aggression on November 14.
