'The rallies of the Iranians throughout the country were held following the December 30, 2017 and in reaction to a newly-started fire-cracking and wickedness. But when the people felt that the mercenaries of the enemy wouldn't stop [their attempts], they repeated the rallies in consecutive days,' said Ayatollah Khamenei.
Ayatollah Khamenei added, 'Such mass public moves, with such order, insight, excitement, and motivation, do not exist anywhere in the world; the moves have been going on for the past forty years. This is the fight of a nation against anti-nation, Iran against anti-Iran, and Islam against anti-Islam.'
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution added, 'Once again, the nation told the US, England and those residing in London 'You didn’t succeed this time either and will never succeed.''
The meeting was held on the occasion of uprising of the people of Qom against the shah regime on January 9, 1978.
The event is considered by many as the beginning of a series of protests that led to the fall of the shah and monarchy in Iran to be replaced by the Islamic Republic on March 11, 1979
