Iranian, Russian FMs discuss regional developments

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov have discussed Tehran-Moscow relations as well as regional developments including the recent Israeli regime attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria.

The two top diplomats held their talks over the phone on Saturday.

Amirabdollahian thanked Russia for holding a UN Security Council emergency meeting on the Israeli attack on April 2, a day after the regime struck the Iranian diplomatic mission in the Syrian capital Damascus.

He meanwhile lashed out at the US for what he described as adopting double-standard policies as Washington prevented a Security Council resolution that would have condemned the Israeli regime over the consulate attack.

The Russian foreign minister, on his part, said that targeting diplomatic missions is unacceptable and all countries should condemn such measures.

Israeli attacks against civilians should be condemned by countries as well, he added.

Also in their phone call, Amirabdollahian and Lavrov discussed the latest developments in Gaza.
