Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has discussed the country’s nuclear energy program and talks with world powers in a phone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu.

Davutoglu said on Wednesday the new round of talks between Iran and the P5+1 group -- Russia, China, France, Britain, the US, and Germany -- should be resumed and Turkey is ready to support Iran.

Iran and the P5+1 group held two rounds of talks, one in Geneva in December 2010 and another in Istanbul, Turkey in January 2011.

While Tehran says it is ready to continue the talks based on common grounds, it has emphasized that it will not give up any of its rights.

The United States, Israel and some of their allies accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear energy program, using this pretext to impose sanctions against Iran and threaten the country with military attack.

Iran is a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency. So, it is entitled to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
