“Domestic insurance companies are ready to insure domestic oil tankers, but full implementation of this policy requires that domestic insurance companies provide the requisite financial resources to do so,” he said.
Talking to khabaronlie, the head of the Central Insurance Agency added: “In spite the intensification of the western sanctions regime against Iran--especially with regard to oil--insurance companies, with the provision of the appropriate financial resources, are currently able to take the necessary steps to act on their intentions of providing coverage to oil tankers.”
Karimi also made note of the foreign insurers in Iran’s insurance market.
“Negotiations with foreign insurers interested in working with Iran have been carried out, in line with special decisions made in the High Council of Insurance to accelerate the process of integrating foreign insurers into Iran’s insurance industry. In light of the current circumstances, it’s best that the names of the foreign companies involved are not mentioned.”
In regards to the insurance companies responsible for providing insurance for passengers aboard both domestic and international flights, Karimi pointed out their readiness as well.
“At the current time, domestic insurance companies have included all passengers on domestic flights in their coverage, and are also prepared to provide coverage for passengers on international flights, particularly foreigners aboard Iran-bound flights.”
