Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi voiced Tehran's preparedness to extend more aid and assistance to its eastern neighbor Afghanistan, once the western troops withdraw from the war-torn country.

Addressing the opening of the jubilee session and IV meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the CICA member states in Astana on Wednesday, Salehi said, "Iran is also ready to take part in the construction of infrastructure projects in the country."

Salehi stressed the relevance and necessity of such organizations, which are aimed at restoring and maintaining stability and confidence in the Asian continent.

In his speech, he also emphasized that there are many threats and challenges requiring common solutions and measures in the region today.

Speaking about the situation in Syria, he said that it is necessary to hold the negotiations on the peaceful settlement of the situation between the government and the opposition.

Salehi said that it is necessary to make a common decision to avoid misuse of the nuclear technology, while underlining all nations' right to develop a nuclear program for peaceful purposes.
