Jalili's three-day official visit is taking place at the invitation of India's National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon.
During his visit, Iran's SNSC secretary will review issues of mutual interest as well as the latest regional and international developments with senior Indian officials.
Jalili will also address a meeting organized by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF).
Iran and India which have deep historical and cultural relations are now seeking to further expand political and economic ties.
India, the world's fourth-largest petroleum consumer, is Iran's second largest oil customer after China and purchases around $12 billion worth of Iranian crude every year, about 12 percent of its consumption.
