The FMI quoting Farhadi announced on Wednesday that the award will be transferred to the museum in a month.
He has made the remarks after a visit to the museum. However no date was mentioned for the visit.
“I will keep in mind this day,” Farhadi wrote in a note for the museum.
“I would like to save the feelings evoked in me by coming to this place forever; the honest and warm feelings which are the outcome of being on the path of the honorable cinema of this land,” he added.
In March 2012, Farhadi announced his plan to donate a number of his personal items and all his awards including the Oscar he received for “A Separation” to the FMI.
Due to an order from the former director of the Iran Cinema Organization, Javad Shamaqdari, who asked the museum to eliminate its section dedicated to London-based Iranian director Mohsen Makhmalbaf, FMI Managing Director Mohammad-Hassan Pezeshk said in August that Farhadi has doubts about the plan to donate his memorabilia to the museum.
Shamaqdari made the demand in response to Makhmalbaf’s remarks in favor of Baha’ism during the Jerusalem Film Festival and also due to his presence at the event in Israel in July.
However, the museum never carried out the demand of Shamaqdari, who then was removed from the position in line with the developments that have begun in Iran’s public organizations since June 15 after moderate cleric Hassan Rouhani won the presidential election.
