The film will be screened in the section of the Panorama fiction features of the festival, which will take place in the German capital from February 6 to 16, the organizers said on Friday.
“The festival has sent a representative annually to Iran to select films for various sections of the event and this year ‘I’m Not Angry!’ was selected,” the distributor of the film, Mohammad Atebbaii, told the Persian service of ISNA on Sunday.
“I’m Not Angry!” will also be screened in the competition section of the 32nd Fajr International Film Festival in Tehran in February.
“I think this film will become a huge phenomenon at the Fajr festival and I am sure it will also be warmly welcomed at the Berlin festival,” Atebbaii stated.
He said that the management of Berlinale has paid a special attention to Iranian cinema over the past few years.
Baran Kowsari, Navid Mohammadzadeh, Reza Behbudi, Misaq Zare and Bahram Afshari are the main members of the cast for the film, which is Dormishian’s second feature.
He made his debut film “Hatred” about the life of an Iranian couple after their immigration. This film was screened at many international events.
The Panorama section of Berlinale is dedicated to new independent and art films that deal with “controversial subjects or unconventional aesthetic styles.” Films in the section are intended to provoke discussion, and have historically involved these themes.
