Secretary of the Guardians Council Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati said on Monday that the Iraqi government and nation by relying on religious leaders can overcome existing difficulties.

Ayatollah Jannati made the remarks in a meeting with Iraqi Ambassador to Tehran Mohamed Majed Abas al-Sheikh in Tehran on Monday.

 

Iranian organizations such as Red Crescent Society are ready to ship humanitarian aid to Iraq, he said.

 

Expressing regret over current situation in Iraq and the plots of Daesh terrorist group, he expressed the hope that the sedition would be removed and the Iraqi nation would once againt experience security and tranquility.

 

The Iraqi ambassador, for his part, briefed Ayatollah Jannati on the latest developments in the country and lauded the support of the Iranian Supreme Leader and nation for the Iraqi people.

 

Developments are turning in favor of the Iraqi nation after Grand Ayatolloah Sistani issued a religious verdict inviting the Iraqi people to fight terrorists with three million volunteers voicing readiness to join the army in its fight against terrorists, said the Iraqi ambassador.

 

He said the Iraqi territory would turn into graveyard for all terrorists.

 

There is no military shortage in Iraq and all roads leading to holy cities and sites are secure, he said.

 

He called on Iranian officials mainly the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution to help forge unity in Iraq and bring about political stability in the country.
