The Iranian parliamentarians issued a statement on Sunday to protest against Israel's continued and barbaric attacks on the oppressed Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

A sum of 210 MPs in a statement, which was read out at the floor of the parliament, voiced their support for the oppressed people of Gaza who have been subject to Israel's brutal attacks in recent days.

"The US, Britain and the Zionist regime who witnessed the failure of their plots in Syria are now trying to use this huge capacity for futile battles by spreading the terrorism to Iraq - instead of using it for confrontation against Israel - in order to enable the Zionist regime to crush the oppressed people of Gaza," the statement said.

The lawmakers also called for immediate mediation of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation as well as the Inter-Parliamentary Union to stop the Israeli atrocities against the Gazans.

On Saturday, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei expressed his deep concern over the ongoing bloodshed in the Gaza Strip, and lashed out at Washington and London for their continued support for the Zionist regime of Israel's military operation against the innocent people.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the US and Britain do not care about the Tel Aviv regime’s killings in Gaza Strip and “officially support these attacks".

The domineering world powers back evil as long as it is in their interest while they confront good savagely, the Leader said.

Israel has been pounding the blockaded Gaza for five consecutive days, killing at least 163 people and injuring more than 1100 others.

According to the UN, 77% of the victims in Gaza are civilian and defenseless people.

On Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham slammed the Israeli regime's “brutal” aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, urging a swift international action to stop the raids.
