"The Americans, themselves, have admitted their weak position in a way that a US senator who is the main sponsor of economic sanctions against the Iranian nation and has made use of all congress capacities to impose harsh sanctions and annihilate Iran's economy, has today admitted that the US is in a weak position and the Islamic Republic enjoys a mighty position in the (nuclear) negotiations," Aboutorabi Fard said in Rey city near Tehran on Sunday.
Stressing that Iran's might and power is a source of inspiration for the regional states, including Iraq, Bahrain, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria, he said, "The Islamic Revolution has turned into a model of Islamic unity for the other world nations, while experiencing foreign pressures itself and today the Iranian nation is the symbol of security and might against the bullying countries and stands on a high position."
His remarks came after the US congress (mostly grabbed by the Republicans) threatened to impose new sanctions against Iran, an issue which has been described as a redline by Tehran in the interim nuclear agreement reached with the world powers in November 2013.
The 10th round of negotiations between Iran and the six world powers was held in Vienna from November 18 to 24, where the seven nations decided to extend the talks until July after they failed to strike an agreement.
The latest round of the nuclear talks between the two sides was held at the level of deputy foreign ministers in Geneva, Switzerland, on January 18.
The two sides decided to continue their talk early in February.
Both Iran and the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, Britain and France plus Germany) negotiators have underlined that cutting a final deal before the July 10 deadline is possible.
