Jahangiri made the remarks in the inaugural ceremony of the 8th International Exhibition on Tourism and Related Industries.
He asserted that developing tourism industry is among the strategic priorities of the government, adding that: “the first level is to expand and reinforce tourism, therefore the government takes into consideration the establishment and providing of tourism infrastructures in different cultural, economic, legal, and social fields.”
The official meanwhile stressed the security issue of the tourists and said Iranian government believes that non-Muslim tourists need to have legal rights in Muslim countries.
Noting the current atmosphere of violence and terrorism in the world, He said tourism could play a critical role in restoring peace among societies.
Jahangiri added: “I ask the politicians and international organizations to help this process. They could also help Iran maintain its tourism and national resources.”
First VP also emphasized the role of tourism in improving economic condition and creating jobs.
He concluded that tourism is not a mere governmental issue and all private, international and public foundations and actors have to consider themselves as the basis of tourism industry, saying “the government will pave the way for them.”
Foreign diplomats from Germany, Turkey, Malaysia, Cyprus, Italy, Austria, Russia, The Netherlands, Switzerland, UK and Spain are participating in the four-day event.
The exhibition is aimed at fostering mutual tourism interaction and also introducing various services and equipment in the field of tourism to the visitors.
