Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian in a meeting with Arab diplomatic corps in Tehran discussed ways to increase cooperation in fighting terrorism and extremism in the region.

During the meeting in Tehran on Monday, Amir Abdollahian underlined the Islamic Republic's principled policy of deepening regional cooperation, and informed the ambassadors of Arab states to Iran of the latest developments in nuclear talks between Tehran and the world powers.

Also the Iranian and Arab diplomats discussed regional developments and ways to further consolidate relations and cooperation between Iran and the neighboring and Arab-Muslim countries, avenues to increase relations, understanding and cooperation in real campaign on terrorism and extremism, and underscored the necessity for keeping vigilant against the Zionist regime's plots.

During the meeting, also the Arab envoys to Tehran expressed their views about the nuclear talks between Iran and the world powers and other major regional developments, and stressed the necessity of efforts to go past the existing challenges and work out a consensus view against the problems and dangers facing the Muslim world.

The Iranian officials have on many occasions warned of the threats of terrorism and extremism to the region and the world.

In relevant remarks on Sunday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the spread of the new waves of violence and extremism was threatening peace and security worldwide, and called for global coordination and cooperation to eradicate terrorist groups.

Speaking in a meeting with Italian Foreign Minister Paulo Gentiloni, President Rouhani said that terrorism had posed a major threat to the international community, and that global cooperation was necessary to get rid of the menace of terrorism.

He said that the Iranian government had repeatedly warned western governments that if they supported terrorism in countries like Syria, Iraq and Libya, they would face such threats in their own homelands as well.

President Rouhani stressed that he was pleased to see that Iran was a major supporter of those nations and governments fighting against terrorism, adding that Iran would never leave its neighbors alone in the fight against terrorism.
