IRGC commander-in-chief has said IRGC is seen as a body anticipating and aborting cyber threats along with military threats.
Mohammad Ali Jafari who was addressing a meeting of IRGC clerical staff on Monday in the IRGC headquarters, provided a general history of the IRGC formation as an important foster child of the Revolution; “since defending the Revolutionary ideals entails preparation and logistics in wider scope, we should be prepared in military, defense and security fields, and that such preparation should not be limited to these sectors,” said the commander. “Along with preparation in the military, anticipation of the cyber threats and cyber warfare is crucial in aborting pernicious attacks; this is a genuine mission IRGC is expected to commit to,” he added.
“The nature of military threats has changed over time; it obliges us to keep up-to-date our defense preparations, organization, training sessions, and weaponry against any military threat,” said Jafari."
“IRGC has a preparation system quite different than any other professional armies in the world; larger portion of threats against the Islamic Revolution is cyber threat; thus, it is necessary for the IRGC to promote the spiritual preparation in its forces; without jihadi management and through routine practices no great feat would be ever achieved,” Jafari asserted.
“The Revolution has a forward-looking trend toward more transparency, making more difficult the IRGC mission in spiritual preparation for defending the Revolution; both in domestic and foreign missions the IRGC should promote spiritual integrity to succeed in missions,” he told the meeting.
He also pointed to critical role the clerics play in helping IRGC keep this level of preparation, quoting Leader of the Islamic Republic, who had described the clerical order as closely associated with the Islamic Revolution and prestige and respect lent to it.
