The Iranian president arrived in the Turkish capital, Ankara on Wednesday evening.

President Hassan Rouhani, heading a high-profile delegation, made the trip to Ankara to attend the fifth session of Iran-Turkey's supreme council for strategic relations.

The two-day trip happened upon an official invitation from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The two sides are expected to sign important documents in political, economic and cultural fields.

President Rouhani is expected to leave Ankara for Tehran on Thursday evening.
