Islamic Republic of Iran has provided significant aid to Iraq in the fight against terrorism so that the country is witnessing peace and stability, Iraq’s Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi said on Saturday.

Abdul-Mahdi made the remarks during a joint press conference in Tehran with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

He said that he believes as like as President Rouhani that bilateral agreements on economy, trade, railway and oil sector will guide both countries to a better and brighter future.

Noting that the current positive developments in Iraq benefits both the Iraqi nation and the entire region, Abdul-Mahdi said the fact that Iraq has come to this place now is due in part to supports from Iran.

He noted that relations between Iran and Iraq have to become a role model for other countries.
