Trade exchanges between Iran and France in January-February this year witnessed significant growth compared with the same period in 2022 as they increased by 34%, the latest figures published by the European Union’s statistics office, Eurostat, show.

A Thursday report by IRNA, citing the figures released by Eurostat just days ago, shows that Iran-France trade exchanges stood at €47 million in the January-February period in 2023.

That is up from €35 million worth of trade between the two countries during the first two months of 2022 and amounts to a 34% growth.

During the first two months of 2023, France’s exports to Iran jumped to €43 million from the €32 million recorded in the same period a year earlier, and this shows significant growth as well, amounting to a 34% increase.

The European country meanwhile imported €4 million worth of goods from the Islamic Republic in January-February this year, marking a 33% rise from the €3 million worth of imports recorded in the same period last year.

Eurostat has published figures on trade exchanges between Iran and the 27-member European Union as well during the first two months of 2023.

According to the figures, trade exchanges between the Islamic Republic and the EU stood at €761 million during the mentioned period, down from €838 million in the first two months of 2022 and showing a 9% decline.

Among the EU member states, Germany, Italy and Spain were respectively the biggest trade partners of Iran in the January-February period this year, with Germany accounting for 31% of the whole trade between the Islamic Republic and the bloc.
