Majid Chegeni, who also serves as Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Company, was quoted by NIGC on Sunday as saying.
In his remarks, the NIGC head referred to Turkiye as another country that is willing to extend agreement on buying gas from Iran.
He further noted that talks on exports of gas to Oman, revival of agreement with Pakistan and exchange of trade with Russia continue.
Elaborating on Iran’s gas exports, Chegeni said the country has witnessed 16% growth in the export of its gas during the first five months of the Iranian calendar year started on March 21, 2023, and a 22% increase has been experienced in export of liquefied petroleum gas in the same period.
About the swap of gas from Turkmenistan, the official said Iran has fully paid back its debt to Turkmenistan in three installments, and imports of gas from the country have daily reached eight million cubic meters from 4.5.
Elsewhere, Chegeni pointed to the Iran-Armenia gas deal and said it is extended for the next seven years.
According to the deal, Iran will increase its gas exports to Armenia, Chegeni underlined adding that Iran’s gas pipeline has the capacity of exporting over one billion cubic meters of natural gas to Armenia; meanwhile, one-third of such a capacity has been operated.
