Iranian foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met and held talks with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

The meeting of Iranian and Turkish diplomats took place on the sidelines of the emergency meeting of the foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Palestine in Jeddah.

Earlier on Tuesday evening, the Iranian top diplomat met with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan and Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha.

The OIC foreign ministerial meeting, held on March 5 in Jeddah, aimed to review the situation in Gaza.

The OIC, which comprises 57 member states, has its secretariat based in Jeddah.

On February 26, the OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha orally pleaded for cessation of crimes by the Israeli regime in Gaza.

Additionally, on October 18, 2023, just 11 days after the start of the war in Gaza, the OIC convened an emergency meeting in Jeddah to discuss developments in the Strip.

Tragically, the death toll in Gaza has now surpassed 30,000, with a majority of the victims being women and children.
