Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi says he had “substantial” discussions with Iran’s deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, ahead of his upcoming visit to Tehran.

“Timely and substantive exchange with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister @Gharibabadi in preparation of my upcoming visit to Tehran,” Grossi said in a post on social media platform X on Thursday.

Grossi shared a photo of the meeting with Gharibabadi along with his message.

Previously, the IAEA chief had expressed his readiness to engage with Iran's new government to resolve outstanding safeguards issues.
