Munir, who is also Pakistan’s national security advisor, issued the call during a meeting with Ali Larijani, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, in Islamabad on Wednesday.

In the meeting, also attended by the high-ranking delegation accompanying Larijani, the two sides discussed strengthening relations, counterterrorism, new avenues of strategic cooperation between Islamabad and Tehran, and the evolving security situation in the region.

Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and highlighted the need for strong collaboration to counter rising terror threats, emphasizing that “close coordination with Iran” will help both countries handle evolving security challenges more effectively.

In a statement, the Pakistani Army quoted the top Iranian security official as praising “Pakistan’s vital role in ensuring regional peace and security” and expressing his commitment to strengthening Iran-Pakistan relations.

Larijani also stressed the importance of coordination and collaboration between the two countries to address regional challenges and ensure long-term stability.
