According to Khabaronline, an Iranian news agency In an interview, the commander, Noshad Abdari, highlighted the objectives of the military exercise, stating that “Sahand 2025,” involving Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states, is designed and executed to counter any terrorist activities in the region, with participation from operational teams from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Belarus, and Uzbekistan.
He added that, according to the planned scenario, intelligence teams first identify the movements of a simulated enemy through precise surveillance and monitoring. Subsequently, drone units carry out targeted and destructive operations against the identified positions.
Commander Abdari explained that simultaneously, while establishing a robust border defense, reserve teams initiate pursuit operations to ensure complete security along the borders.
He emphasized that the next phase involves helicopter units executing aerial assault operations, targeting and neutralizing the enemy at designated depths to prevent any further attempts to breach the borders.
Addressing the international collaborative aspects of the operation, he noted that in a joint scenario with Belarus, in the event of a simulated infiltration by “white elements” and a hostage-taking incident, a combined operation is carried out by the IRGC Ground Forces special units and Belarusian operational teams.
In this phase, the joint forces conduct a rapid heliborne insertion to successfully free hostages and capture or eliminate the terrorists.
Commander Abedari concluded by describing the final stage of the exercise: the area clearance and establishment of lasting security, which will be conducted in cooperation with operational teams from Uzbekistan.
