In an interview with the Turkish Anadolu Agency on the sidelines of the Doha Forum 2025 on Monday, Zarif said, “Israel knows that Iran is capable of inflicting harm, but Iran is not interested in doing so except in self-defense. Therefore, if Israel stops its future aggressions and forgets about them, it would be best for them.”
He pointed out that the Zionist regime’s recent aggression against Iran was the result of their “miscalculation,” warning that any future aggression would provoke Iran’s self-defense.
“I think Israelis entered this aggression against us based on miscalculations and at the end of the day, they found out that the resistance of the people of Iran will prevent them from achieving their objectives, and that is what ended the war,” he said.
Zarif reiterated that Iran has no interest in pursuing hostilities but is fully capable of responding if attacked.
On June 13, Israel launched an unprovoked aggression against Iran, triggering a 12-day war that killed at least 1,064 people in the country, including military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians. The United States also entered the war by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites in a grave violation of international law.
On June 24, Iran, through its successful retaliatory operations against both the Israeli regime and the US, managed to impose a halt to the terrorist assault.
