The German Embassy in Tehran has announced that it will resume accepting new Schengen visa applications starting on 7 January 2026.

According to Khabaronline, According to a notice published on Monday, 23 Azar (December) on the embassy’s Instagram page, TLScontact, the embassy’s service provider, will open a new waiting list within the next 48 hours, allowing applicants to register. The German Embassy in Tehran will then officially restart the acceptance of new Schengen visa applications from 7 January 2026.

It has also been announced that applicants who already have a TLS account will automatically receive an email explaining how to register on the waiting list. Those who do not yet have a TLS account can create a new one.

In recent months, particularly following the start of the 12-day war, the visa application process at the German Embassy has become more limited and, according to applicants, even more stringent. It is also reported that the appointment system for German visas in Tehran currently involves long queues and extended waiting times, causing difficulties especially for students and patients.

In a separate notice published on its official website, the German Embassy in Tehran confirmed that following the events of June 2025 in Iran (the 12-day war), it has been operating on a limited basis, and that the embassy’s technical and staffing capacities have been significantly reduced.
