Canada has added four Iranian officials to its sanctions list, citing their alleged involvement in human rights violations.

According to Khabaronline, In a statement released Monday, Canada’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the sanctions target the individuals under the Special Economic Measures (Iran) Regulations.

“Today, Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand announced that Canada is imposing additional sanctions on four individuals under the Special Economic Measures (Iran) Regulations,” the statement read.

The four individuals named in the sanctions are Mohsen Karimi, Ahmad Khadem Seyyed al-Shohada, Mostafa Mohebi, and Hassan Akharian. Canada claims it is being sanctioned for what it described as “gross and systematic violations of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
