Satellite monitoring data show that more than 22 percent of Iran’s total land area is currently covered by snow, marking a significant increase compared with the same period last year.

According to Khabaronline, According to satellite observations conducted on December 18, snow now blankets over 22 percent of the country. This figure is roughly double the level recorded at the same time last year, when snow cover was significantly lower.

Current data indicate that approximately 370,000 square kilometers of Iran’s surface are covered by snow—an area equivalent to about twice the size of the country’s largest province—highlighting what experts describe as a notable “snow surge” across the country.
