According to Khabaronline, an Iranian news agency, In an official statement, the Treasury Department confirmed that its Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has designated nine vessels belonging to a “shadow fleet,” along with their respective owners and management companies. These vessels are accused of transporting hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of Iranian oil and petroleum products to international markets.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent commented on the action, asserting that the measures target a critical financial pipeline for the Iranian regime. “Today’s sanctions target a vital part of how Iran secures funding to suppress its own people,” Bessent claimed.
Bessent further stated that the Treasury Department remains committed to tracking tens of millions of dollars that he alleges have been “transferred to foreign banks” through these illicit c hannels.
